Repeat prescriptions and referrals
We ask that you make an appointment with your doctor to obtain repeat prescriptions or referrals. This enables us to monitor your health and fulfil our ethical and legal responsibilities. In the case of referrals it allows our doctors to update any medical information for the specialist and to check on the need to see the specialist. Please note that it is not permissible for your doctor to issue back dated referrals, so please ensure you have a referral prior to your specialist appointment.
Medical Reports
Medical Reports need to be booked via reception with a copy of the report provided at the time. Each medical report will require approval by the Doctor once they have an opportunity to review the report. There are no exceptions. This is to allow time for the necessary preparation, review of medical records and request additional information from other sources if required.
Medical Reports will not always attract a Medicare rebate, this means the report will need to be paid in full at the time of collection. The cost of the report will be given at the time the appointment is confirmed as the Doctor will need to review the report to provide an accurate cost.
When preforming certain non-standard medical reports reading through guidelines prior to the examination is required, and certain other medical reports done by other qualified professionals, these cannot be done by your GP.
Please visit your regular GP. If you do not visit your regular GP or you do not have one, unfortunately delays will happen or the report may not be able to be done. Medical reports are required to be grounded on verifiable information and cannot rely on verbal information or a previous report
Medical certificates
Your doctor will need to see you in order to issue a medical certificate for medical conditions requiring time off work. Medical certificates cannot be backdated.
Results
A consultation with the doctor is generally required to receive and discuss pathology/blood test results, and plan any further management. In special circumstances and if agreed to with your doctor, results may be obtained over the phone.
